You have been invited to take tea with the Mad Hatter. An honor! But what a curious tea party this is. Each guest seems to have their own idea of proper etiquette. Can you deduce the rules your friends are following before they figure out yours?

The Hatter's Table is a board game created by myself, Logan Olson, and Elizabeth Swensen for the 2010 Wonderland Competition at USC. It combines the whimsical, playful style of Lewis Carroll's children's books with the head-scratching puzzles of his mathematical work in logic.

The game is played with tokens on a board and an audio CD of the Hatter's prompts. When the Hatter calls out an instruction -- "Sit beside the March Hare," for example -- all the players must move their tokens to another place at the table. Usually, you follow the instruction as given. However, every player has a secret condition that dictates a different move in some situations. By carefully watching your friends, you must try to puzzle out what their special rules are, while keeping up with your own.
