Grayline is a cooperative narrative experience played by two people, on two iPads, simultaneously. The players take on the role of detectives investigating a series of cases by interviewing and interrogating suspects.
The plots, characters, and solutions are pre-written, to be discovered but not dictated by the players. The narrative of the game is the investigation, conducted through dialogue with suspects and persons of interest. Each player is coordinating their own investigation with their partner’s, trying to uncover all of the secrets that the suspects are keeping. And because this is a mystery in the classic noir style, there are a lot of secrets being kept.
Grayline is my master's thesis project, currently in development. I have been the project director, leading the game's design and overseeing the work of a team of writers, artists, voice actors, and other contributors.
The game will be presented at the Interactive Media Division's Thesis Show this May at the University of Southern California.
Please visit the website at graylinegame.com for more information about the game.
